First visit of the Bulgarian target groups in Craiova

From 27th to 29th of November 2017, members of the “Chance for Development” project’ target group, together with representatives from the project management team, went to a study visit to Craiova, Romania, as part of the two-year project activities.

On 27.11.2017 the group visited Elpreco. It is the largest producer of prefabricated concrete elements in the area of ​​Oltenia. Representatives of the company welcomed the group and briefly introduced its history and its development over the years. The organizational structure and the range of products were also presented. After comprehensive safety and safety instructions, the target group and members of the project team from the Bulgarian and Romanian sides visited three production plants. This enabled participants to get acquainted with the means, machines and technology of producing of various products offered by the company on the market. In each of the attended workshops, a representative of the company spoke about the specifics of the work and their production.

On November 28, 2017, the group participated in a conference, entitled "Geography, Economy and Tourism in the Cross-Border Region". The conference was organized by the University of Craiova within the framework of the project. Presentations on topics, related to the sustainable development, and to the increasing of the level of cooperation in the Romanian-Bulgarian cross-border area were delivered. Discussions on the opportunities for the economic development in the region, national and European funding programmes, geographic potential and climatic conditions as factors influencing seasonality in tourism also took place during the conference. Members of the project team of the Dimitar A.Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov, Assoc.Prof.Galina Zaharieva and the researcher, Dr. Aleksandrina Alexandrova, presented their research papers on the above issues.

On the same day,  the a visit to the factory of Ford's car producer in Craiova took place. During the study visit the target group got acquainted with the organization of the work, the current volume of production, the produced cars’ models, and the technology. During the visit the members of the target group received information about the company's plans related to forthcoming investments in production lines, expansion of the range of produced cars and increase of the production volume, respectively the number of employees in the company.
